Celebrations

It wasnt all scoffing cake and drinking Champagne, Johnny managed to insert his head into a bubble. Sam and Kate tried to race bubbles across the Derwent .

Full Scale parties usually start at the beginning of June but even before that individuals celebrate some pretty good work in schools and getting their first post. It is around now that students commence the interview rounds. Three are on interview today, tow for the same post. One already has a job but I may aske her to write a little about that here becaase she described it as her "dream job" which I hope you find encouraging! Soon, within the next six or seven weeks the current group will start to think about celebrating qualifying to teach because that is the focus of the final week of the course, as well as an exam board of course.

The demands on pgce students continue right into that week. Last year Ffur superb people (Sam, Laura, Susanna and Leah) represented the group by meeting with external examiners and submitting all their teaching files as well as the required "TDR" (Teacher Development Record) which everyone had to submit and acquitted themselves magnificently. Susanna had also been observed teaching by the external examiner a few weeks before and was impressive.

Exam board over we could relax . We began with a picnic a Chastworth once the showers had stopped. Maybe notquite relaxing enough because two of the party received phone calls inviting them to interview at the same school for the following Monday. Leah squealed with delight and she wasnt even one of those who got a call - she got her job a week before.

It was a very relaxing day and thoroughly enjoyable. If only every day on the PGCE could be like it. They may still be there.

The very last day of term and the year involves a Valediction and a slap up lunch with friends and family as well as the PGCE group. Maybe more photos will follow. Susanna delivered the Valedictory address in the guise of "Gobby the House Elf" which you will udnerstand if you ever meet her, an youprobably will.
